drm: Wake up next in drm_read() chain if we are forced to putback the event

After an event is sent, we try to copy it into the user buffer of the
first waiter in drm_read() and if the user buffer doesn't have enough
room we put it back onto the list. However, we didn't wake up any
subsequent waiter, so that event may sit on the list until either a new
vblank event is sent or a new waiter appears. Rare, but in the worst
case may lead to a stuck process.

drm: Fix drm_release() and device unplug

If userspace has open fd(s) when drm_dev_unplug() is run, it will result
in drm_dev_unregister() being called twice. First in drm_dev_unplug() and
then later in drm_release() through the call to drm_put_dev().

Since userspace already holds a ref on drm_device through the drm_minor,
it's not necessary to add extra ref counting based on no open file
handles. Instead just drm_dev_put() unconditionally in drm_dev_unplug().

We now have this:
- Userpace holds a ref on drm_device as long as there's open fd(s)
- The driver holds a ref on drm_device as long as it's bound to the
  struct device

When both sides are done with drm_device, it is released.

This commit fixes DRM failures on Xen PV systems that were introduced in
v4.17 by the following commits:

fd5fd480 drm/amdgpu: only enable swiotlb alloc when need v2
1bc3d3cc drm/radeon: only enable swiotlb path when need v2

The introduction of ->need_swiotlb to the ttm_dma_populate() conditionals
in the radeon and amdgpu device drivers causes Gnome to immediately crash
on Xen PV systems, returning the user to the login screen.  The following

This commit renames drm_get_max_iomem() to drm_need_swiotlb(), adds a
xen_pv_domain() check to it, and moves the bit shifting comparison that
always follows its usage into the function (simplifying the drm driver
code).

drm/i915: Attach colorspace property and enable modeset

This patch attaches the colorspace connector property to the
hdmi connector. Based on colorspace change, modeset will be
triggered to switch to new colorspace.

Based on colorspace property value create an infoframe
with appropriate colorspace. This can be used to send an
infoframe packet with proper colorspace value set which
will help to enable wider color gamut like BT2020 on sink.

This patch attaches and enables HDMI colorspace, DP will be
taken care separately.

v2: Merged the changes of creating infoframe as well to this
patch as per Maarten's suggestion.

v3: Addressed review comments from Shashank. Separated HDMI
and DP colorspaces as suggested by Ville and Maarten.

v4: Addressed Chris and Ville's review comments, and created a
common colorspace property for DP and HDMI, filtered the list
based on the colorspaces supported by the respective protocol
standard. Handle the default case properly.

v5: Merged the DP handling along with platform colorspace
handling as per Shashank's comments.

v6: Reverted to old design of exposing all colorspaces to
userspace as per Ville's review comment

v7: Fixed a checkpatch complaint, Addressed  Maarten' review

v8: Moved colorspace AVI Infoframe programming to drm core and
removed from driver as per Ville's suggestion.

v9: Added a check to only allow RGB colorpsaces to be set in
infoframe though the colorspace property. Since there is no output
csc property to control planar formats and it will be added later.
Changes for RGB->YUV conversion inside driver without userspace
knowledge is still supported. This is as per Ville's suggestion.

v10: Fixed an error in if check.

v11: Dropped the check for planar vs RGB and allow all the colorspaces.
Onus will be on userspace to pick whatever pipe output it is able to
drive.

v12: Added Ville's RB.

drm: Add HDMI colorspace property

Create a new connector property to program colorspace to sink
devices. Modern sink devices support more than 1 type of
colorspace like 601, 709, BT2020 etc. This helps to switch
based on content type which is to be displayed. The decision
lies with compositors as to in which scenarios, a particular
colorspace will be picked.

This will be helpful mostly to switch to higher gamut colorspaces
like BT2020 when the media content is encoded as BT2020. Thereby
giving a good visual experience to users.

The expectation from userspace is that it should parse the EDID
and get supported colorspaces. Use this property and switch to the
one supported. Sink supported colorspaces should be retrieved by
userspace from EDID and driver will not explicitly expose them.

Basically the expectation from userspace is:
 - Set up CRTC DEGAMMA/CTM/GAMMA to convert to some sink
   colorspace
 - Set this new property to let the sink know what it
   converted the CRTC output to.

v2: Addressed Maarten and Ville's review comments. Enhanced
the colorspace enum to incorporate both HDMI and DP supported
colorspaces. Also, added a default option for colorspace.

v3: Removed Adobe references from enum definitions as per
Ville, Hans Verkuil and Jonas Karlman suggestions. Changed
Default to an unset state where driver will assign the colorspace
is not chosen by user, suggested by Ville and Maarten. Addressed
other misc review comments from Maarten. Split the changes to
have separate colorspace property for DP and HDMI.

common colorspace property for DP and HDMI, filtered the list
based on the colorspaces supported by the respective protocol

platform capabilties as suggested by Shashank. Consolidated HDMI

the commit message to add more details as well kernel docs.

Notice that, in this particular case, the code comment is modified

This patch is part of the ongoing efforts to enable
-Wimplicit-fallthrough.

drm: imx: Use of_node_name_eq for node name comparisons

Convert string compares of DT node names to use of_node_name_eq helper
instead. This removes direct access to the node name pointer.

For instances using of_node_cmp, this has the side effect of now using
case sensitive comparisons. This should not matter for any FDT based
system which this is.

Now that the base struct drm_gem_object has a reservation_object, use it
and remove the private BO one.

We can't use the drm_gem_reservation_object_wait() helper for MSM
because (in theory) msm_gem_cpu_prep() will also do some cache
maintenance on the GEM object.

drm: Add reservation_object to drm_gem_object

Many users of drm_gem_object embed a struct reservation_object into
their subclassed struct, so let's add one to struct drm_gem_object.
This will allow removing the reservation object from the subclasses
and removing the ->gem_prime_res_obj callback.

With the addition, add a drm_gem_reservation_object_wait() helper
function for drivers to use in wait ioctls.

The current calculation for the video start delay in the current DSI driver
is that it is the total vertical size, minus the front porch and sync length,
plus 1. This equals to the active vertical size plus the back porch plus 1.

That 1 is coming in the Allwinner BSP from an variable that is set to 1.
However, if we look at the Allwinner BSP more closely, and especially in
the "legacy" code for the display (in drivers/video/sunxi/legacy/), we can
see that this variable is actually computed from the porches and the sync
minus 10, clamped between 8 and 100.

This fixes the start delay symptom we've seen on some panels (vblank
timeouts with vertical white stripes at the bottom of the panel).

The current code allows the TCON clock divider to have a range between 4
and 127 when feeding the DSI controller.

The only display supported so far had a display clock rate that ended up
using a divider of 4, but testing with other displays show that only 4
seems to be functional.

This also aligns with what Allwinner is doing in their BSP, so let's just
hardcode that we want a divider of 4 when using the DSI output.

powerpc/64s: Fix possible corruption on big endian due to pgd/pud_present()

In v4.20 we changed our pgd/pud_present() to check for _PAGE_PRESENT
rather than just checking that the value is non-zero, e.g.:

 +       return (pgd_raw(pgd) & cpu_to_be64(_PAGE_PRESENT));
  }

Unfortunately this is broken on big endian, as the result of the
bitwise & is truncated to int, which is always zero because
_PAGE_PRESENT is 0x8000000000000000ul. This means pgd_present() and
pud_present() are always false at compile time, and the compiler
elides the subsequent code.

Remarkably with that bug present we are still able to boot and run
with few noticeable effects. However under some work loads we are able

arm64, mm, efi: Account for GICv3 LPI tables in static memblock reserve table

In the irqchip and EFI code, we have what basically amounts to a quirk
to work around a peculiarity in the GICv3 architecture, which permits
the system memory address of LPI tables to be programmable only once
after a CPU reset. This means kexec kernels must use the same memory
as the first kernel, and thus ensure that this memory has not been
given out for other purposes by the time the ITS init code runs, which
is not very early for secondary CPUs.

On systems with many CPUs, these reservations could overflow the
memblock reservation table, and this was addressed in commit:

  eff896288872 ("efi/arm: Defer persistent reservations until after paging_init()")

However, this turns out to have made things worse, since the allocation
of page tables and heap space for the resized memblock reservation table
itself may overwrite the regions we are attempting to reserve, which may
cause all kinds of corruption, also considering that the ITS will still
be poking bits into that memory in response to incoming MSIs.

So instead, let's grow the static memblock reservation table on such
systems so it can accommodate these reservations at an earlier time.
This will permit us to revert the above commit in a subsequent patch.

While trying to reproduce a reported kernel panic on arm64, I discovered
that AUTH_GSS basically doesn't work at all with older enctypes on arm64
systems with CONFIG_VMAP_STACK enabled.  It turns out there still a few
places using stack memory with scatterlists, causing krb5_encrypt() and
krb5_decrypt() to produce incorrect results (or a BUG if CONFIG_DEBUG_SG
is enabled).

Tested with cthon on v4.0/v4.1/v4.2 with krb5/krb5i/krb5p using
des3-cbc-sha1 and arcfour-hmac-md5.

The upcoming GCC 9 release extends the -Wmissing-attributes warnings
(enabled by -Wall) to C and aliases: it warns when particular function
attributes are missing in the aliases but not in their target.

In particular, it triggers for all the init/cleanup_module
aliases in the kernel (defined by the module_init/exit macros),
ending up being very noisy.

These aliases point to the __init/__exit functions of a module,
which are defined as __cold (among other attributes). However,
the aliases themselves do not have the __cold attribute.

Since the compiler behaves differently when compiling a __cold
function as well as when compiling paths leading to calls
to __cold functions, the warning is trying to point out
the possibly-forgotten attribute in the alias.

In order to keep the warning enabled, we decided to silence
this case. Ideally, we would mark the aliases directly
as __init/__exit. However, there are currently around 132 modules
in the kernel which are missing __init/__exit in their init/cleanup
functions (either because they are missing, or for other reasons,
e.g. the functions being called from somewhere else); and
a section mismatch is a hard error.

A conservative alternative was to mark the aliases as __cold only.
However, since we would like to eventually enforce __init/__exit
to be always marked,  we chose to use the new __copy function
attribute (introduced by GCC 9 as well to deal with this).
With it, we copy the attributes used by the target functions
into the aliases. This way, functions that were not marked
as __init/__exit won't have their aliases marked either,
and therefore there won't be a section mismatch.

Note that the warning would go away marking either the extern
declaration, the definition, or both. However, we only mark
the definition of the alias, since we do not want callers
(which only see the declaration) to be compiled as if the function
was __cold (and therefore the paths leading to those calls
would be assumed to be unlikely).

    the argument refers. The copy attribute copies only syntactic and
    semantic attributes but not attributes that affect a symbol’s
    linkage or visibility such as alias, visibility, or weak.

In particular, it triggers here because crc32_le_base/__crc32c_le_base
aren't __pure while their target crc32_le/__crc32c_le are.

These aliases are used by architectures as a fallback in accelerated
versions of CRC32. See commit 9784d82db3eb ("lib/crc32: make core crc32()
routines weak so they can be overridden").

Therefore, being fallbacks, it is likely that even if the aliases
were called from C, there wouldn't be any optimizations possible.
Currently, the only user is arm64, which calls this from asm.

Still, marking the aliases as __pure makes sense and is a good idea
for documentation purposes and possible future optimizations,
which also silences the warning.

This series contains two SoC regression fixes and one uninitialized
variable fix:

- Fix inverted nirq pin handling for omap5 that started producing
  warnings with earlier GIC direction checks and took a while to
  understand and confirm. Basically there are two sys_nirq pins
  that are bypassing peripheral modules and inverted automatically
  by the SoC and need to be handled with a custom irq_set_type()

- Recent ti-sysc changes caused a regression to the pwm-omap-dmtimer
  code where the device tree handling code for timer source clock
  gets confused. It looks like we can remove that code eventually,
  but for now we just drop a bogus pm_runtime_irq_safe() for the
  timers with the related quirks caused by pm_runtime_irq_safe(),
  and have the standard assigned-clocks and assigned-clock-parents
  deal with setting the source clock

i2c: bcm2835: Clear current buffer pointers and counts after a transfer

The driver's interrupt handler checks whether a message is currently
being handled with the curr_msg pointer. When it is NULL, the interrupt
is considered to be unexpected. Similarly, the i2c_start_transfer
routine checks for the remaining number of messages to handle in
num_msgs.

However, these values are never cleared and always keep the message and
number relevant to the latest transfer (which might be done already and
the underlying message memory might have been freed).

When an unexpected interrupt hits with the DONE bit set, the isr will
then try to access the flags field of the curr_msg structure, leading
to a fatal page fault.

The msg_buf and msg_buf_remaining fields are also never cleared at the
end of the transfer, which can lead to similar pitfalls.

Fix these issues by introducing a cleanup function and always calling
it after a transfer is finished.

drm: Use array_size() when creating lease

Passing an object_count of sufficient size will make
object_count * 4 wrap around to be very small, then a later function
will happily iterate off the end of the object_ids array.  Using
array_size() will saturate at SIZE_MAX, the kmalloc() will fail and
we'll return an -ENOMEM to the norty userspace.

dm thin: fix bug where bio that overwrites thin block ignores FUA

When provisioning a new data block for a virtual block, either because
the block was previously unallocated or because we are breaking sharing,
if the whole block of data is being overwritten the bio that triggered
the provisioning is issued immediately, skipping copying or zeroing of
the data block.

When this bio completes the new mapping is inserted in to the pool's
metadata by process_prepared_mapping(), where the bio completion is
signaled to the upper layers.

This completion is signaled without first committing the metadata.  If
the bio in question has the REQ_FUA flag set and the system crashes
right after its completion and before the next metadata commit, then the
write is lost despite the REQ_FUA flag requiring that I/O completion for
this request must only be signaled after the data has been committed to
non-volatile storage.

Fix this by deferring the completion of overwrite bios, with the REQ_FUA
flag set, until after the metadata has been committed.

It turns out that people do actually depend on the shebang string being
truncated, and on the fact that an interpreter (like perl) will often

Currently the ethtool_regs version is set to 0 for FEC devices.

Use this field to store the register dump version exposed by the
kernel. The choosen version 2 corresponds to the kernel compile test:

        || defined(CONFIG_M532x) || defined(CONFIG_ARM)

and version 1 corresponds to the opposite. Binaries of ethtool unaware
of this version will dump the whole set as usual.

This reverts commit d6ebf5088f09472c1136cd506bdc27034a6763f8.

I forgot that the kernel's default lease period should never be
decreased!

After a kernel upgrade, the kernel has no way of knowing on its own what
the previous lease time was.  Unless userspace tells it otherwise, it
will assume the previous lease period was the same.

So if we decrease this value in a kernel upgrade, we end up enforcing a
grace period that's too short, and clients will fail to reclaim state in
time.  Symptoms may include EIO and log messages like "NFS:
nfs4_reclaim_open_state: Lock reclaim failed!"

There was no real justification for the lease period decrease anyway.

mm: page_alloc: fix ref bias in page_frag_alloc() for 1-byte allocs

The basic idea behind ->pagecnt_bias is: If we pre-allocate the maximum
number of references that we might need to create in the fastpath later,
the bump-allocation fastpath only has to modify the non-atomic bias value
that tracks the number of extra references we hold instead of the atomic
refcount. The maximum number of allocations we can serve (under the
assumption that no allocation is made with size 0) is nc->size, so that's
the bias used.

However, even when all memory in the allocation has been given away, a
reference to the page is still held; and in the `offset < 0` slowpath, the
page may be reused if everyone else has dropped their references.
This means that the necessary number of references is actually
`nc->size+1`.

Luckily, from a quick grep, it looks like the only path that can call
page_frag_alloc(fragsz=1) is TAP with the IFF_NAPI_FRAGS flag, which
requires CAP_NET_ADMIN in the init namespace and is only intended to be
used for kernel testing and fuzzing.

To test for this issue, put a `WARN_ON(page_ref_count(page) == 0)` in the
`offset < 0` path, below the virt_to_page() call, and then repeatedly call
writev() on a TAP device with IFF_TAP|IFF_NO_PI|IFF_NAPI_FRAGS|IFF_NAPI,
with a vector consisting of 15 elements containing 1 byte each.

kvm: vmx: Fix entry number check for add_atomic_switch_msr()

Commit ca83b4a7f2d068da79a0 ("x86/KVM/VMX: Add find_msr() helper function")
introduces the helper function find_msr(), which returns -ENOENT when
not find the msr in vmx->msr_autoload.guest/host. Correct checking contion
of no more available entry in vmx->msr_autoload.

KVM: x86: Recompute PID.ON when clearing PID.SN

Some Posted-Interrupts from passthrough devices may be lost or
overwritten when the vCPU is in runnable state.

The SN (Suppress Notification) of PID (Posted Interrupt Descriptor) will
be set when the vCPU is preempted (vCPU in KVM_MP_STATE_RUNNABLE state but
not running on physical CPU). If a posted interrupt comes at this time,
the irq remapping facility will set the bit of PIR (Posted Interrupt
Requests) but not ON (Outstanding Notification).  Then, the interrupt
will not be seen by KVM, which always expects PID.ON=1 if PID.PIR=1
as documented in the Intel processor SDM but not in the VT-d specification.
To fix this, restore the invariant after PID.SN is cleared.

The value of ->num_ports comes from bcm_sf2_sw_probe() and it is less
than or equal to DSA_MAX_PORTS.  The ds->ports[] array is used inside
the dsa_is_user_port() and dsa_is_cpu_port() functions.  The ds->ports[]
array is allocated in dsa_switch_alloc() and it has ds->num_ports
elements so this leads to a static checker warning about a potential out
of bounds read.

With many active TCP sockets, fat TCP sockets could fool
__sk_mem_raise_allocated() thanks to an overflow.

They would increase their share of the memory, instead
of decreasing it.
